In the wake of devastation, community is everything—and ours just stepped up in a major way.
Players by the Sea is proud to announce that we’ve received a 1:1 commitment match up to $10,000 from First Horizon Bank towards our Emergency Relief Fund, doubling the impact given to help us recover from the fire that damaged our Studio Theatre earlier this April.
This generous opportunity came at a critical time. As we begin the long and emotional journey of rebuilding—from the demolition of our administrative offices to restoring the vital infrastructure that powers our productions and programming—these matched contributions will provide essential funding for recovery and renewal.
“First Horizon Bank and the First Horizon Foundation have been incredible partners to Players by the Sea, standing with us as we begin the next chapter of our 60-year story,” says Bradley Akers, Managing Director of Players by the Sea. “Their unwavering belief in the power of arts and culture to build a more connected, empathetic, and vibrant community inspires us daily. We are extraordinarily grateful for their continued support!”
Every donation up to $10,000—no matter the size—goes twice as far. First Horizon Bank’s matching commitment becomes a real, tangible step toward bringing our stage back to life. This partnership also sends a powerful message: the arts matter, community matters and when we rebuild together, we rise stronger.
“At First Horizon, we believe theatre transforms communities. That’s why we’re providing funding to help Players by the Sea rebuild after the fire,” says Alicia Somers, Community Relations Manager at First Horizon Bank. “We’re not just supporting construction—we’re investing in a space where stories come alive and local talent flourishes. We encourage others to join us in this important rebuilding effort.”
